About Among Us

Among Us is a social deduction party game from Innersloth in which a group of colourful crewmates try to prepare a spaceship for departure while one or more impostors secretly work to stop them. It is played online or over local Wi-Fi with 4 to 15 players, and it became widely popular because it turns ordinary conversation into the main gameplay. The game is simple to learn, but each match can feel very different depending on who you play with.

The basic rules

Most players are crewmates, and a small number are impostors. Crewmates complete tasks around the map, such as fixing wires or scanning a card, while impostors pretend to do tasks, sabotage systems and eliminate crewmates when no one is watching. When a body is found or an emergency button is pressed, everyone meets to discuss what happened and vote on who to remove from the game. Crewmates win by completing all tasks or identifying the impostors, and impostors win by outnumbering the crew or completing their sabotage.

Maps and tasks

The game offers several maps, each with its own layout, vents and hiding places. Tasks vary from quick mini-games to longer ones, and they give crewmates a reason to move around. Learning where tasks are located helps you spot suspicious behaviour, such as someone who is near a task but never completes it.

Strategy as a crewmate

Stay observant. Remember who was near you and when, and avoid wandering alone in quiet areas. When a meeting starts, speak clearly about what you saw and ask others to explain their movements. A reliable way to build trust is to complete visible tasks, since some tasks show visual effects that confirm you are doing them. Avoid accusing without evidence, because incorrect votes help the impostors.

Strategy as an impostor

The best impostors blend in. Act like a crewmate, make believable statements and avoid obvious hurried movements. Use vents and sabotage carefully, and try to create situations where suspicion lands on someone else. It helps to have an alibi story ready, but do not overexplain, as that can seem suspicious.

Communication and etiquette

Because the game depends on talking, the quality of the experience depends on the group. Play with people you trust, use text or voice chat responsibly and avoid harassing others. If you play with strangers online, remember that chat can include inappropriate language, so use the reporting and chat controls the game provides. Parents should check privacy settings for younger players.

Game settings

When hosting a private game, you can adjust settings such as the number of impostors, task counts, speed and voting time. Smaller groups may do better with fewer impostors, while larger groups are more balanced with more. Experimenting with the settings is a good way to keep matches fresh.

Mobile notes

The mobile version is free to play with ads, and optional purchases may unlock extras such as cosmetics. Check the official store page for the current monetisation details.

Who will enjoy it

Groups of friends, families with older children and anyone who enjoys bluffing and deduction will have fun. If you prefer solo play or games without social interaction, it may not be a good fit.
