About Subway Surfers
Subway Surfers is an endless runner developed by Kiloo and SYBO Games in which you play a graffiti-painting kid running along railway tracks to escape an inspector and his dog. The game is easy to understand, colourful and designed for short sessions, which is why it has remained a familiar name on mobile devices for many years. You swipe to change lanes, jump and roll, and try to run as far as possible without crashing.
Basic controls
Movement is controlled by swiping. Swiping left or right moves you between three lanes, swiping up makes you jump, and swiping down makes you roll under barriers or drop quickly from a jump. Because the pace increases the longer you survive, early practice helps you build reflexes. Try to look further ahead than your character; seeing obstacles early gives you time to choose a safe path.
Obstacles and trains
The tracks are filled with obstacles such as trains, barriers and ramps. Moving trains are the most dangerous, but you can sometimes jump on top of stationary ones to run safely and collect extra coins. Learn to recognise which obstacles can be jumped and which need to be avoided by changing lanes. Crashing ends the run, although the game may offer a chance to continue by using in-game items.
Coins, keys and power-ups
Collecting coins is a main goal, since they are used to buy upgrades and characters. Power-ups, such as a jetpack, a coin magnet or high-jump shoes, help you travel farther or gather more rewards. Upgrading power-ups makes them last longer, which can increase your score and coin count. Spending coins on upgrades that match your play style, such as magnets if you enjoy collecting, is usually better than buying many characters at once.
Missions and rewards
The game includes missions that give you extra goals during runs, such as collecting a number of coins or performing a number of jumps. Completing sets of missions increases your score multiplier, which helps you earn more points in later runs. There are also daily challenges and events, though details vary over time.
World Tour and changing themes
Subway Surfers is known for its World Tour, which updates the setting to different cities with new visuals, music and characters. These updates keep the game feeling fresh and give long-term players something to look forward to. Because content changes, check the game for the current location and events.
Tips for higher scores
Stay calm and avoid unnecessary swipes, since mistakes often happen when you panic. Use hoverboards when you need an extra safety net; they protect you from a crash. Keep an eye on the next obstacles instead of the character. When you find a pattern that works, practise it until it becomes automatic. Take regular breaks, because reaction time declines when you are tired.
Ads and purchases
The game is free to play with ads and optional purchases. If you play with children, consider disabling purchases or requiring a password. The game also includes rewarded ads that you can choose to watch for bonuses.
Who will enjoy it
Casual players, families and anyone who likes quick reflex games will enjoy it. Those seeking deep story or complex strategy will find it too simple.
