Thunderbolts* star Sebastian Stan and One Day‘s Leo Woodall are teaming up for a new thriller titled Burning Rainbow Farm.
Directed by Justin Kurzel, the upcoming film will tell the true story of Tom Crosslin and Rollie Rohm, two gay cannabis activists who met in the early ’90s and set up a “peaceful, pot-friendly utopia” named Rainbow Farm in Michigan (via Variety).
However, when the couple run afoul of local authorities and their young son is taken from them, a police standoff that leads to one of the “largest and most dramatic sieges America has ever seen” ensues.
Stan and Woodall have been cast as the lead duo, though it hasn’t yet been confirmed who is playing who.
The film is based on Dean Kuipers’ 2006 book Burning Rainbow Farm: How a Stoner Utopia Went Up in Smoke, which is being adapted for the screen by Tommy Murphy.

“Burning Rainbow is a love story about two outliers who raise their middle finger to hate and declare ‘This is who we are, and we dare you to take it from us’,” Kurzel said in a statement.
“I’m excited to create this loveable and courageous couple with Sebastian and Leo, their union will be one to remember.”
Starting in 1996, Rainbow Farm began hosting two annual festivals, HempAid and Roach Roast. These events ran until 2001, the year the police standoff took place.

Kurzel is also producing Burning Rainbow Farm, alongside Nicole O’Donohue, Alexandra Taussig, Adam Shulman, Alix Madigan and Justin Lothrop.
Stan can currently been seen in cinemas in Marvel’s latest blockbuster Thunderbolts*, in which he reprises his role as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier.
The movie has landed an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 88%, which is the best score an MCU film has received since 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Meanwhile, Woodall recently starred in the fourth Bridget Jones instalment Mad About the Boy, as well Apple TV+ thriller series Prime Target.
Burning Rainbow Farm doesn’t have a release date yet.
