WildVoices is an independent educational website about animal sounds and wildlife behaviour. We write original species profiles and articles that explain not just what an animal is, but why it sounds the way it does, where it lives and how it is faring in the wild.
What you will find here
- Species guide: in-depth profiles with quick facts, a plain-language explanation of each animalās voice, behaviour and a conservation note.
- Blog: long-form articles on topics such as why wolves howl, how whales communicate and how scientists record wildlife.
Our editorial standards
- All text is written by the WildVoices team; we do not copy or rewrite text from other sites.
- We prefer to publish fewer pages with real depth rather than long lists of names.
- We state conservation status as of the time of writing and link to the IUCN Red List for current assessments.
- We correct errors promptly. Please report them through the contact page.
Images and audio
Our pages use illustrations and icons created for this site. We do not hotlink or copy photographs from other websites. Audio is only published where we can document its source; see Media & Sources.
