Sneak peek! Only Murders in the Building star undergoes hair transformation for season 5 role

A new sneak peek at Only Murders in the Building season 5 has been unveiled with a look at Renée Zellweger in character.

The double Oscar-winner was recently confirmed to be joining the murder-mystery series for its next set of episodes, with filming now underway in New York.

New behind-the-scenes pictures have now emerged, showing Zellweger’s character with a strawberry blonde hairdo, as well as an immaculate white coat and white gloves. She is also seen interacting with fellow star Bobby Cannavale.

Further details on her character remain under wraps for the moment.

Zellweger joins season 5 alongside fellow new cast additions Christoph Waltz, Keegan-Michael Key, Logan Lerman and Beanie Feldstein.

Meanwhile, the main trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez will be back as everyone’s favourite sleuths Charles-Haden Savage, Oliver Putnam and Mabel Mora.

Zellweger most-recently appeared in fourth Bridget Jones movie Mad About the Boy, and suggested earlier this year that it may not mark the final outing for her beloved character.

“I just knew that I loved her, I knew she made me laugh, I knew she touched my heart, and I found her so charming and endearing,” she told Deadline.

The star added that she would “never be done” with the character, teasing: “Hopefully [author Helen Fielding] might spark to something and want to share something through the Bridget character again down the line.”

She added of reprising the role again: “Who would say no?”, and that “we can hope” there will be more in the future.

Only Murders in the Building is available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
