About Clash Royale

Clash Royale is a real-time strategy game from Supercell that blends collectible cards with tower defence and quick head-to-head matches. Two players face each other on a small arena, deploy troops, spells and buildings from a deck of cards and try to destroy the opponent's towers while protecting their own. Matches are short, which makes the game well suited to mobile play, but the strategy underneath is deeper than it first appears.

How a match works

Each player has a deck of eight cards, and you draw from it as the match proceeds. Every card costs elixir, a resource that fills up automatically over time. You must decide when to spend it, which cards to play and where to place them. The aim is to destroy more towers than your opponent or to take down the main tower. The pace is fast, so thinking about elixir efficiency is essential: trading a cheaper card for a more expensive one gives you an advantage.

Cards and decks

The game has a large collection of cards, including ground troops, flying units, spells and defensive buildings. Each card has its own strengths, weaknesses and role. Building a deck is a creative part of the game. A balanced deck usually has a win condition to attack towers, a few defensive cards, a spell or two and some cheap cycle cards that let you return to your best options quickly. Avoid filling a deck with only expensive cards, because you may run out of elixir at critical moments.

Placement and timing

Where you place a card matters as much as which card you choose. Placing a defensive troop near your tower can pull an attacking unit into range, while a well-timed spell can clear a group of weaker units. Learning the typical counter to each card is one of the main skills of the game. Watching your opponent's deck as they play also helps you predict what they might do next.

Arenas and progression

As you win matches, you progress through different arenas and unlock new cards. You also upgrade your cards using duplicates and currency, which makes them stronger. The game includes chests, events and clan features, and the details of these systems have changed over time. Check the in-game information for the current rewards and rules.

Clans and community

Joining a clan lets you chat, request cards and take part in friendly battles with other players. Clans are helpful for new players because experienced members can offer advice and deck suggestions.

Tips for beginners

Start by learning a small group of cards well instead of changing your deck constantly. Do not spend all your elixir at once; keep some in reserve for defence. Pay attention to the double-elixir phase near the end of a match, when the game speeds up. Review your losses to see which card or placement you misjudged. Be patient with upgrades, since progress is gradual.

Spending and fairness

The store page says Clash Royale is free to download and play, but some items can be bought with real money, including random items, and you can disable in-app purchases in your device settings. Set a spending limit and, if children play, enable purchase approvals on the device.

Who will enjoy it

Players who like quick tactical matches, card collection and competitive play will enjoy it. Those who prefer slow, story-driven games may find it intense.
